                                   Guang-han gong

The ‘Palace of the Wide Cold’ is on the moon; it is surrounded by beautiful gardens
and seductive girls. The expression is used metaphorically to mean the process of falling
in love with a girl whom one might well imagine to be as beautiful ‘as the fairies in
the moon’. Formerly, the palace with all its attractions often appeared in dreams, but, say
the Taiwanese, since the Americans landed on the moon – not any more!
