                                         Ring

        huan

Like the wheel, the ring symbolises permanence: what is lasting and not subject to decay.
Among the Yao people in South China, the ring is the emblem of betrothal and of love:
and this is not unknown elsewhere in China. The Chinese word for ‘ring’ – huan – is
phonetically identical with the word for ‘to return’.
