Along with larger trans-oceanic merchant vessels and clipper ships
that populated the Pearl River Delta at the height of the China trade,
Chinese junks also played a crucial role in the international trade.
These smaller vessels, here depicted at their moorings near the Dutch
Folly Fort, would have been the type that carried Chinese goods to the
closer markets in South Asia and the Philippines.
