Couplet in Running Script
A pair of hanging scrolls, ink and gold-flecked paper,
with one dedication, signed Gong qinwang with one
seal reading huang liu zi heshuo Gong qinwang yin.

恭親王 楷書八言聯 水墨洒金紙 立軸一對
The couplet was dedicated to Zhonghua, who could
be Ronglu (荣禄, 1836-1903), the grandfather of the
last emperor Puyi, who served important civil and
military positions at the Qing court. During the first
Sino-Japanese war (1894-1895), both Ronglu and
Prince Gong were charge of military affairs, along
with Prince Qing, Yikuang (1838-1917).
