ARMCHAIRS, NANGUANMAOYI
Late 19th/early 20th century
Each with a curved and arched crestrail above a gently curved splat
reticulated near the top with a ruyi-head between cusped edges, the
gently curved armrests with mid-section supports continuing in a curve
to the corner posts through the hard cane seat with ice-plate edges,
the straight legs joined by a footrest and cusped apron to the front,
and stretchers and simple aprons to the sides and back, the wood
with an attractive graining and rich warm tone.
