TWO HUANGHUALI BOXES
19th century
Each of rectangular form fitted with hinged cover, the edges softly
rounded, the rim of the box and cover with beading, the sides of the
box mounted with metal bail handles and circular discs, the front with
a circular escutcheon and ruyi-shaped hasp, the interior fitted with a
shallow tray, the wood of a warm reddish-brown color.

A HUANGHUALI PORTABLE CHEST, TIXIANG
20th century
Of upright rectangular form, the removable front panel door fitted with
a metal pull, an escutcheon and secured with a pin, opening to reveal
three drawers in the interior, each fitted with a metal pull, the side stiles
of the straight handle through-tenoned into the plinth and reinforced
with metal braces, the wood of a warm chestnut color.
