A HARDWOOD ‘IMMORTALS’ BRUSHPOT
Qing dynasty
Gently waisted with thick walls, deeply carved to the exterior with
Shoulao on a deer and the immortals Li Tieguai, Liu Hai, Hanshan and
Shide, each with their identifiable attributes crossing a sea of turbulent
waves beneath a band of loosely scrolling clouds encircling the rim, the
foot with a central plug and carved with a seal reading Zeng Xiao, the
dense wood with a dark brown color and faint tortoise-shell patterning.
