A SIX-PANEL COROMANDEL LACQUER SCREEN
Late Qing/Republic period
Each panel a discrete composition worked in polychrome lacquer on
a black lacquered background, carved with depictions of scholars and
mythical figures; bearing inscriptions and seals based on the work of
Wang Su (1794—1877) including one panel bearing a ding-wei date
[equivalent to 1847] (wear, possibly reduced in size).

Some of the subject matter depicted includes: a panel of Magu
presenting peaches, two showing seated groups of connoisseurs
enjoying antiques, a fifth panel with a warrior visiting a beauty in a
garden while his groom and horse wait, a wistful recluse scholar
enjoying the life of a fisherman, and the far left panel possibly depicting
the legend of Chang’e.

A LARGE HONGMU ALTAR TABLE
Late Qing/Republic Period
The long, rectangular top set into a mitred, mortise and tenon frame
5292 over an apron carved and pierced with grapevines centered on a shou
medallions joined to squared supports and keyfret feet.
