A BLUE AND WHITE PORCELAIN BITONG
Kangxi six-character mark and of the period
The thick and slightly concave walls painted in shaded cobalt wash
and outline with three scholars conversing in a continuous rural
landscape, the glaze stopping in a neat line along the outer edge of
unglazed base centered with a glazed circular recess displaying the
mark in underglaze blue standard script (chipped, glaze worn).

Guangxu six-character mark and of the period
The wide well centered with a reserve depicting Shoulao and a deer
standing beneath clouds and the exterior walls showing each of the
Eight Immortals, the designs drawn on both surfaces with space for
overglaze enamel details that were never added, the recessed base
showing the mark written in standard script (minor glaze flaw to rim).

Transitional period
The short flaring neck painted with upright leaf silhouettes and the
long sleeve-form body displaying fantastic rocks, floral arrangements
and miniature trees arranged in containers either painted in cobalt or
carved in shallow relief to the fabric beneath the colorless glaze (large
crack, wood base now adhered to vase).
