A carved amber snuff bottle
1780-1880
Of rounded rectangular form, its neck slightly narrowing towards the
subtly convex lip, rounded oval foot ring, finely carved in relief to one
side with a phoenix holding a peach branch in its beak while perched
on a peach tree rising behind a pierced rock, the reverse depicting a
phoenix swooping down to a blooming tree and serrated rocks; the
warm honey-toned matrix with crazing webs.

A five-color overlaid white glass snuff bottle
1820-1880
Of rounded rectangular form with a subtly waisted neck, flat lip, green
overlaid splayed oval foot, the milky white bottle carved through the
red, green, pink, blue, and caramel overlays with chrysanthemum,
rocks and butterfly to one side, an orchid in a vase in front of tied
scrolls and a butterfly on the reverse.
