A cast bronze censer An inlaid silver and turquoise bronze censer, dui
17th/18th century Song/Ming dynasty
Of bombé form, the low-set belly tapering gracefully inward to an Lacking its cover, the lower half-spherical body elegantly cast and
everted rim and set with two lion-mask handles to either side, cast inlaid at the base with four whorl patterns surrounding a square
with a sixteen character kaishu inscription reading Da Ming Xuande field under alternating bands of c-comma hooked lozenges and
wunian jiandugo bu guanchen Wu Bangzuo zao (made in the fifth year c-shaped brackets all under an elaborate saw-tooth band of spiral and
of Xuande by the Board of Works under Wu Bangzuo) on the inside of c-comma volutes, the surfaces all inlaid with turquoise and silver and
the concave base. set off by hooked ring handles and tripod supports, now with carved
2 3/4in (7cm) high wood domed cover mounted with a jade finial.
