Embroidered with roundels of flower
blossoms and butterflies, above a lishui
band, with large gilt flying butterflies and
scattered floral sprays against the dark blue
ground, the sleeves with pink silk bands
embroidered with blue flowers and lingzhi.

surrounded by Buddhist emblems; a Silver
Pheasant badge with gilt profiles; a pair
of Silver Pheasant badges on a black silk
ground; and an orange-ground Mandarin
Duck badge, all framed and glazed. The
biggest: 32cm (12 1/2in) square (6).

THREE DIFFERENT EMBROIDERIES
20th century
Comprising: an ochre-ground cloth divided
in two identical banners with decoration of
flying dragons and swirling carps outside of
a temple door; a blue-ground cloth with two
banners each with a lotus frame enclosing
bands of four phoenix, dragons and goldfish;
together with an embroidered roundel with
birds and flowers flanked by inscriptions. The
ochre cloth: 103cm (40 1/2in) high x 53cm
(20 7/8in) wide (3).
