scrolls on the sides and a key-fret band to

BOX AND COVER
18th century
Carved in relief to the cover with a gentleman
and attendant carrying a wine ewer in a
landscape of pine and rockwork, the sides
with lingzhi, pine, bamboo and narcissus
sprays on a diaper ground.
12cm (4 3/4in) wide (2).

Comprising: a circular box and cover carved
profusely with figures in a garden setting
on one side and fishermen on the other,
with a central circular cartouches ‘N’ to the
inside; together with another tortoiseshell
circular box and cover intricately carved
with scholars and ladies playing in a garden
setting, with an empty circular cartouche
to the centre. The biggest: 9.5cm (3 3/4in)
diam. (2).
