A FAMILLE ROSE ‘EROTIC’ SHOE
18TH CENTURY
Crafted in the from of a small silk ladies’ shoe of
teardrop form with a pointed front section, the
upper section is decorated in yellow and blue
enamels and the interior is glazed turquoise. The
underside of the shoe is decorated with a scene of
two fgures in an amorous encounter.

A GILT-BRONZE MOUNTED SANCAI
MODEL OF A SHOE
KANGXI PERIOD (1662-1722), THE MOUNTS
18TH CENTURY
The boat-shaped shoe is executed with a fsh
design, with the eyes forming the front part of the
shoe and the sides decorated with a fsh-scale
design. The underside of the shoe is incised in
imitation of a leather sole. The rim and lower edge
are mounted in gilt bronze.
