A DOUCAI ‘DRAGON’ DISH
QIANLONG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE
AND OF THE PERIOD (1736-1795)
The fnely potted dish is decorated to interior with a central medallion
enclosing a fve-clawed dragon chasing the faming pearl amongst clouds. The
cavetto is decorated with fve large ruyi-shaped clouds and the exterior with
cresting waves below clouds.

Acquired in Asia in the early 20th century, then by descent within the family.
A slightly larger dish with similar decoration was sold at Christie’s Hong
