               Ten prints from a set of twenty, three of the
               prints mounted, framed and glazed, and the
               remaining seven prints loose; with a title-page
               in French, and the title-page and seven loose
               prints in the original publisher’s gilt-decorated
               blue cloth portfolio.

               Published in Paris in 1977, this set of prints
               was based on etchings made between 1783
               and 1786, and depict the palace grounds,
               buildings, and gardens of Yuanmingyuan,
               the Summer Palace created for the
               Qianlong emperor and painted by the Jesuit
               missionary and painter Giuseppe Castiglione
               (Lang Shining, 1688-1768), who served at
               Qianlong’s court. From an original set of
               twenty, the following ten prints are included
               in this lot: North façade of the Palace of
               the Delights of Harmony; East façade of
               the water pavilion containing the hydraulic
               machine; Gateway leading north to the
               garden; View of the Labyrinth; North façade
               of the Bamboo Pavilion; North façade of
               the Palace of the Calm Sea; Palace of the
               Immense Ocean; Gateway to the artificial hill;
               Temple of the artificial hill; and View of the
               east bank of the Lake.

               Calligraphy in Regular Script, 1883
               A set of four hanging scrolls, ink on paper;
               the last scroll dedicated to E’cheng, dated
               guiwei san yue (1883, third month) and signed
               Fengshi di Lu Runxiang with two artist’s seals
               reading Lu Runxiang yin and Taifu xian Taibao.
