written in semi-cursive below each one, the
end leaves with other auspicious messages,
further embellished with carved low-relief
panels, each panel fixed, mounted as a wall
hanging.

Qing Dynasty
Each rectangular panel decorated in
‘kuancai’, the designs of the four sections
together forming a lobed cartouche enclosing
a scene of scholars and attendants engaged
in various activities, reserved on a ground
carved with birds amongst bamboo and
prunus, bordered with a band of bats and
peaches.

The waisted kang table raised on four cabriole
legs with a waved apron, the top inset with
three circular plaques enamelled with dragons
amongst clouds and confronted fishes; the
waisted stools each with a plaque with cranes
on a foliate ground, raised on five cabriole
legs with a star shaped stretcher.
The circular tables: 46cm (18 1/8) diam.
