752 | A BRONZE FIGURE OF A BODHISATTVA, 755 | A BRONZE FIGURE OF
TANG STYLE AND POSSIBLY OF THE PERIOD AVALOKITESVARA, LATE MING
China. The bodhisattva standing on a six-foiled base, with celestial China, late Ming dynasty (1644-1912). Heavily cast seated in
bands around the arms and legs, wearing a crown. Together with dhyanasana with the right hand lowered in varada mudra and
a 20th century replica of a Tang bronze of a bodhisattva on a four- the left in abhaya mudra, the face with a serene expression and
pronged base. (2) downcast eyes, the hair gathered into a high chignon save for two
long plaits falling off the shoulders. Unsealed.
Condition: Massive encrustations as well as areas of natural
verdigris and malachite patina to the Tang style Bodhisattva. The Condition: Fair condition with old wear and losses, few dents and
replica with artificial patina. abrasions, fine patina with some verdigris.

FIGURE OF BUDDHA, MING
China, 1368-1644. Seated in padmasana on a double lotus base
and showing the dhyana mudra, wearing simple robes with finely
incised folds, the face well-cast in a meditative expression. Much of
the original lacquer gilding has been preserved.
Condition: Some losses as well as warping to the unsealed base,
otherwise in excellent condition.

China, 1644-1912. Seated in padmasana on a sealed double lotus
China, late Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Seated in dhyanasana atop a base, his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra, while the left rests on
double lotus pedestal. The right hand held in bhumisparsha mudra his lap supporting the (missing) alms bowl, the robes finely incised,
and the left resting in his lap, raised ushnisha and good expression. the curled hair and ushnisha topped by a lotus bud. Remains of
lacquer-gilt and paint.
Condition: Extensive wear and patina, the alms bowl a later
