AND ENAMEL PAINTED VASE, QING
China, the vase Qing dynasty (1644-1912), the mounts c. 1900. The
vase with a compressed, globular body, a tapered cylindrical neck,
and an everted rim, all painted with butterflies and chrysanthemum,
the sides also with Shoulao, a boy, dignitaries, and attendants as
well as two raised chilong.
Condition: Old repairs to the porcelain base, wear, minor losses.
Provenance: From the collection of Georg Weifert (1850-1937).
Thence by descent in the same family. Weifert was a Serbo-Austrian
industrialist and the first governor of the Federal Bank of the
Kingdom of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia.
