A FINE WHITE JADE PLAQUE A RARE MUGHAL GREEN JADE GLOBULAR JAR AND COVER
Qing Dynasty 17th/18th century
The rectangular plaque carved from a translucent stone of an even Skillfully hollowed to enhance the natural semi-translucency of the
pale tone, carved to one side with a squatting boy dressed in long even-green tone stone, delicately carved to the exterior with flowers
flowing robe, clasping a baluster vase holding a spray of lingzhi, issuing from a band of upright leaf lappets, two leaves rising up
framed within archaistic scrolls, the other side with a square cartouche to the shoulders and curling down with heavy flower-buds to form
enclosing seal script characters reading Taiping Ruyi meaning ‘Peace the delicate handles, the base carved as a flowerhead, the cover
and Fulfillment of all Wishes’, all below billowing clouds. decorated en suite and with a bud-shaped finial.
