A TATEHAGI OKEGAWA-DO TOSEI GUSOKU ARMOUR
Edo period (1615-1868), circa 1850
The 32-plate hoshi bachi kabuto in russet iron mounted with a
four-stage tehen kanamono and shinodare, to the front a kuwagata
maedate; the shikoro of komanju form; the russet-lacquered menpo
with a black hair moustache and chin tuft and a four-lame yodarekake;
the do of horizontal and vertical plates, the russet-iron vertical plates
profusely covered with an inscription which includes the signature of
Myochin Munesada and Buddhist invocations; the chusode of hon-
kozane laced in mongara style with the mon in red and white on a blue
ground; shino gote, kozane haidate and shinosuneate; the armour
laced overall in blue kebiki odoshi richly mounted on red brocade with
shakudo kanamono many with the mon of the Matsudaira daimyo
family of Kameyama in Tanba; with an armour storage box.
