                                                     The iconography of this skilfully casted bronze sculpture,
                                                     seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base, with his right
                                                     hand in vitarkamudra supporting an uptala lotus, represents
                                                     the Bodhisattva Suryabhaskara, one of the principal
                                                     attendants to Bhaishajyaguru, the Medicine Buddha. Compare
                                                     a related Þ gure from the Prince Ukhtomsky Collection
                                                     and now preserved in The State Hermitage Museum, St.
                                                     Petersburg, illustrated in Marylin M. Rhie and Robert A. F.
