Yvonne Legendre was 21 when she embarked on the
boat ‘Cap Varella’. She was studying in London when the
Second World War started and her father, Paul Legendre,
Secretary at the Municipal Council in Shanghai, called
her back home. On the boat she met the charming ship’s
doctor, a French man called Pierre Chapoy. They married in
Shanghai soon after they met and stayed there with their
three children until 1949 when they left China. The works
of art that we present today have been collected both by Paul Legendre and his family in Shanghai
Paul Legendre and Pierre Chapoy and stayed by descent in the 1900s.

                                       其父Paul  Legendre任職於上海公共租界工部局,當即召喚她回
                                       家。在‘Cap Varella’號船上,21歲的她遇見了年輕的法國隨船醫生
                                       Pierre Chapoy先生。他們很快喜結連理並在上海同三個孩子一
