           A RARE PAIR OF CHENXIANGMU       清十七至十八世紀    沉香雕龍鳳角盃一對
           ‘DRAGON AND PHOENIX’ LIBATION
           CUPS
           QING DYNASTY, 17TH – 18TH
           CENTURY
           each of irregular form simulating a rhinoceros
           horn libation cup, intricately carved in high relief
           on the exterior, one depicting two ferocious
           dragons contesting a ‘flaming pearl’, their
           scaly bodies sporadically emerging from dense
           scrolling clouds, the other similarly carved with
           a pair of phoenix perched amongst gnarled
           leafy branches of flowering peonies, the wood
           patinated to an attractive dark reddish-brown
           tone
