He Huaishuo, born in 1941 in Guangdong
province, graduated from the National Taiwan
Normal University before further studying
in the United States. Despite elements of
traditional Chinese landscape paintings present
in He’s work, the artist renders them with new
techniques and perspectives. He encourages
young artists to not only learn from their teachers
but also discover their own aesthetic language.
He believes three elements make great art -
uniqueness, the embrace of the culture it comes
from, and a reflection of contemporary spirit.
何懷碩，1941 年生於廣東，畢業於台灣師範大
學，後赴美國留學。何氏的作品自中國傳統山
水出發，但構圖和細節彰顯藝術家創新的技法
和觀點。何氏鼓勵年輕藝術家不要只跟從老師
學習，還要發掘自我藝術表現的語言。對他來
說，藝術應具備獨特性、母體文化的傳承以及
反映所處時代精神等三要素。
