Meiji era
The first depicting two puppies running over a bridge, the second of
a child gardening with basket and a rake beneath a pine tree, and a
third showing two fashionably dressed women of Kyoto, each in ink,
gold and colours on paper, with a seal, and framed and glazed.
Images 19.6cm x 18.6cm, each box 36cm x 34.8cm (6).

Toyohara Chikanobu (1838-1912)
All from the series Tokugawa Jidai Kifunjin no Zu (Noble Ladies in the
Tokugawa era) published 1897; the first triptych ‘Viewing at the Noh
Theatre’, the second triptych ‘Ocean side’, the third triptych ‘Moon
Viewing’, together with two oban from the triptych ‘Flower Cart’ a
single oban from the triptych ‘Visiting a temple,’ a single oban of a
lady holding a doll, and another single oban of a lady uncovering a
song bird beside a potted peony.
Each oban 37cm x 24.8cm (14).

Two panels cut from a folding screen and mounted as a pair of vertical
hanging scrolls in ink, colours and gold on paper, the joge (upper and
lower silk strips) of antique Japanese silk within a modern figured
silk mount, depicting respectively a tightrope walker, acrobat and 86 86
musicians and revellers in a bathhouse.
Each image: 120cm x 50.5cm, overall: 189cm x 88cm, and each with
box (4).
