18 cm, 7⅛ in.
This mirror may have been produced by Ming dynasty
craftsmen after Tang dynasty mirrors decorated with patterns
of auspicious creatures and grapes, which tended to be silvery
white in colour and finely articulated because of their high tin
content. This mirror tends towards a greyish white, suggesting
a relatively high lead content, but its decorative patterns
remain fine and beautiful. The lions and birds on the outer
band and the lions and grapes in the inner circle are detailed
and vividly depicted.
