AN AGATE ‘CATS’ GROUP
QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
with a larger recumbent cat resting its head on a gnarled stem
bearing a floral bloom, a smaller cat depicted clambering
onto the larger cat’s body, the group further decorated with
a fluttering butterfly, the translucent two-tone stone skilfully
carved with the orange section picked out to depict the flower
