QING DYNASTY, 18TH CENTURY
naturalistically worked with the milky-white
portion of the stone as a curved hollowed tree
trunk forming the vase, the reverse knotted tree
bark issuing a gnarled bough bearing large and
small finger citrons beside, the vermillion-red
part of the stone skilfully fashioned into fruiting
branches of pomegranate and peach on the
exterior forming the sanduo (three abundances)
20 cm, 7⅞ in.

Collection of T.Y. Chao (1912-1999), and thence
by descent in the family.
