COLLECTION PARTICULIÈRE FRANÇAISE
LOTS 72–74
The father of the present owners of lots 72-74, Yang Litah (1918-
2006), was an intellectual and journalist. He was very active
among scholars in Taiwan, and became friends with many
academics and artists, among them Yu Youren. In 1962, Yang and
his wife (Fig. 1) moved to France with their children to give them
the opportunity to receive a better musical education. Yang met
Zhang Daqian through his professor, Ye Gongchao (1904-1981),
who was a close friend of Zhang Daqian. This ‘lotus’ painting was
offered to the Yang family by Zhang Daqian in 1976.
