The left turning shell mounted with silvered
copper alloy wing worked in repoussé with a
makara beside the Eight Buddhist Symbols,
with elongated posterior rod.

A SILVER BUTTER LAMP
Tibet, probably 19th century
Of fine repoussé, the graduated foot with
jewel and lotus petal bands, rising gracefully
to an amrita vase grip with inset turquoise
and coral beads, all surmounted by a
bowl-shaped tray with four applied ogival
cartouches of Buddhist symbols on a finely
engraved ground.
