A SOAPSTONE ‘DUCK AND LOTUS’ SEAL
19th century
The square section seal carved with a high
relief finial with two Mandarin ducks mutually
holding the stem of a lotus flower, the sides
skilfully carved to use the stones inclusion
and imitation a silk drapery, the face carved
in intaglio with a fifteen-character inscription.
