The beast modelled recumbent with four powerful legs, the haunches
and bifurcated tail decorated with archaistic designs, the large lion-like
head with bulging eyes and a single horn, the small cover with a coiled
chilong dragon, wood stand. 16cm (6 1/4in) wide (2).

Modelled after a Western Zhou ritual bronze vessel, the bird with key
fret and taotie mask decoration in carved low relief, the head forming a
lid, the stone with calcified inclusions. 15cm (5 7/8in) high (2).

Ming Dynasty
Modelled after an archaic form, the crouching beast with the head
turned to the rear, with curled bifurcated tail, the body carved with
flame-like motifs extending from each haunch, the stone with speckled
grey and some russet inclusions.
