          The arms are those  Edward  Harrison   (i674-i732)   and his  wife,  Frances  Bray
                       of
          (i674-i752).   The  painter   would  have  copied  a black and white   drawing  orprint   in
          which the  colors and metals were indicated  heraldic  language;  the words sa  (for
                                        by
          sable, black)  and  argt (for  argent,  silver)  are  just decipherable.  Harrison  evidently
                 the
                                              of
          recognized  inadequacy of  his instructions,  as one  his next services  (there  were
          six  altogetherfor  him and his  immediatefamily)  duplicates  this one but is  entirely
                                 correct
                    as is
         polychromatic,   necessaryfor   blazoning.
