A WHITE JADE RHYTON
18TH-19TH CENTURY
The well-hollowed vessel emerges from the head
of an open-mouthed beast. The sides are incised
with two bands of archaistic scroll and carved
in high relief with three chilong, one of which is
clambering up one narrow side to grasp the rim
with one paw to form the handle. The semi-
translucent white stone has some russet mottling
and a lustrous polish.
