A BLUE AND WHITE EWER
TRANSITIONAL PERIOD, CIRCA 1650
The vessel is decorated on the globular body with a continuous scene of three seated scholars and a
servant standing holding a fan in a landscape surrounded by rocks, pine and a banana tree, all between
decorative bands and beneath tulip motifs on the neck. The curved handle is decorated with meandering
foral scroll.
