AN UNUSUAL COPPER-RED-
DECORATED MEIPING

18TH CENTURY
The lower section is of trumpet-form and
is decorated with foliate lappets above the
foot and pendant jewelry, all in underglaze
copper-red which has burnt to a dark reddish
mushroom color. The upper section is shaped
like a waterpot and decorated with the Eight
Daoist Emblems tied with tassels amid cloud
scrolls. The narrow neck has foral sprays
above a band of key fret at the shoulder.
