A WHITE JADE CARVING OF SHOULAO ON A PEACH
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The jade is well-carved to depict the god of Longevity with a smiling face and
a long beard wearing long robes, holding a dragon-headed staf in one hand
and a fy whisk in the crook of the other. He is reclining on a large peach which
grows from a leafy gnarled stem. The jade is of an even white tone, with a few
fne russet veins.
