Thinly potted, the rounded sides rising from a tall foot to a straight rim, Roy Davids Collection, no.128, acquired on 6 October 2006
the white interior finely enamelled with five iron-red bats in flight, the
exterior covered in a rich coral glaze. 22.3cm (8 3/4in) diam. Five bats wufu 五蝠 represent the wish ‘May the Five Blessings
descend upon this home’. The Five Blessings are old age, wealth,
£2,000 - 3,000 health, love of virtue and a peaceful death and were first mentioned in
HK$25,000 - 38,000 CNY20,000 - 30,000 an ancient text from the Warring States period.
