A MOLDED AND ‘CLAIR-DE-LUNE’-GLAZED ‘PHOENIX-
DRAGON’ PORCELAIN WALL VASE
Qianlong mark, Republic period
Of high-shouldered meiping form with a short, waisted neck,
supported by an integral stand enameled in reddish-brown imitating
carved wood, the front molded with an intriguing phoenix with a
sinuous chilong-like body pursuing a flaming pearl, the reverse painted
with gilt florets and carved with a recessed notch and pierced holes
for suspension, the underside of the stand inscribed with a gilt six-
character Qianlong mark in seal script.
