A GROUP OF TWELVE SILVER-MOUNTED
BURLWOOD OFFERING BOWLS
Tibet, 19th century
Each burlwood bowl supported on a short
stem foot and rising to an everted rim, the
interior lined with sheet silver extending over
the rim, the lower body and foot applied
with silver sheet, two of the bowls with no
ornamentation, the others worked in repoussé
and/or chased designs, including three
chased with ‘floral’ motifs, two chased with
bajixiang, one chased with keyfret, one with
repoussé keyfret and lappets, one with a
repoussé ruyi band, one with a repoussé band
of flames, and one with repoussé lappets
inlaid with fragments of turquoise.
6 1/4in (16cm) diam. of the largest (12).
