Landscape, 1813
Ink on paper, horizontal hanging scroll, framed, dated guiyou year
(1813), with one dedication, inscribed and signed Xuechi Wang Fu,
with two seals of the artist, chen Fu zhiyin and Xuechi.

Sotheby’s, New York, 4 June 1982, lot 129
Wang Fu, who used the names Xuechi and Xiangzu, was a native of
Taicang and the great-grandson of the Orthodox School master Wang
Yuanqi (1642-1715). He also lived in Wumen and was a traveling
companion of Wang Xuehao (1754-1832). As plainly expressed with
this lot, his landscapes followed in the family tradition. In his teen years,
Wang Fu studied seal carving with Ding Jing (1695-1765).
