A PAINTED ENAMEL ‘EUROPEAN SUBJECT’ SNUFF BOTTLE Finely painted in vivid tones and featuring vignettes of Europeans
Qianlong four-character mark and of the period enjoying each other’s company or conveying Chinese auspicious
Of flattened flask form with a flat oval rim and a slightly convex base, meanings in a setting distinguished by European architecture and
finely enamelled on one side with a woman in a rose-coloured dress distant peaks, the present bottle belongs to a group of Qianlong mark
holding a plate of pomegranates followed by a little boy dressed in and period Canton enamel snuff bottles sharing these characteristics,
a green tunic holding on to her dress, the boy’s eyes fixed on the probably produced by the same hand or workshop.

Qianlong nian zhi in blue, domed gilt-metal stopper, box, a European castle, in the collection of the National Palace Museum,
