The well finely enamelled with sprays of lotus, peony and camelia
reserved against a honeycomb diaper ground within a triple zigzag
border, the cavetto with an iron-red ruyi-head border, below a register
around the everted sides enclosing variously enamelled peony
blossom scrolls reserved against a ‘fish scale’ ground, the reverse with
iron-red lotus petals above the foot, below a classic scroll band under
the rim.

Rising from a short foot to a gently flaring body and everted rim, the
ochre, yellow, decorated with overlapping uneven splashes of cream,
yellow and green glaze stopping short of the foot ring.

A bowl of similar shape and sancai decoration, Kangxi mark and
period, is illustrated in Selected Porcelain of the Flourishing Qing
Dynasty at the Palace Museum, Hong Kong, 1994, no.78. See also a
similar ‘egg and spinach’-glazed deep bowl, Kangxi, which was sold at
Bonhams London, 6 November 2014, lot 44.
