A LARGE PAINTING OF A SCHOLAR ON A BOAT Dai Jin 戴進 (1388-1462) was a painter generally credited to have
18th/19th century, after Dai Jin established the Hangzhou-based Zhe School of painting. The Zhe
Ink and colour on silk, depicting a scholar and a boy-attendant seated school was known for its use of ‘axe-cut’ strokes and wet ink washes
on a boat, gazing at a gnarled tree, with apocryphal signature and to depict lyrical visions of the surrounding mist-laden hills of Zhejiang.
