other seals with the inscriptions Sanyouxuan (The Three Friends
Studio) and Tianran tongde (In spontaneous harmony with virtue) and ӳ卿⯝༾⻽ԋ⎏㉃㖊໭ݥड़भǯᡜᗌǶԳ㪏༾⻽ǷǮǶૃጻ༾⻽ǷࣿǶ㙣
were kept in the Sanyouxuan at the Jianfu Palace within the Forbidden ݏ༾⻽Ƿӳ⎏ᓎߛᎱٛᓠᙷ᫉∵⯝ǸӲऀ㕜ǹকǸ഍὞ऱᇪǹἃ⢑∵卿

fourth son of the late-Qing business magnate Ye Chengzhong (1840- ⡮ទǯ⎐ἃӲ∵ݥԆ㛢ᛓԳ㪏ӿᎭ卻 卼ჺ㟊⊇ǯ⩧→ໄ⧻இ⡢‰㙪
1899) who pioneered the hardware industry in China. Ye Yiquan built
the famous Jiangwan racecourse and used its revenue to fund the 㩛‰㞖ᙱࢷ⁒㱦卿Գ㪏ӿᎭჺᇙ㯪Ƕℳࣥ▛֎㑤້㯓ᡥᴹᛌ⊺Ƿ卿ᛓ⏖
construction of a mansion and garden complex that became known as ߿਒ӬᏒ㇦㟊ᝳӲ∵ݥ⎏ࣥה卻ॲ̤卼ǯ
the Ye Garden or the Shanghai Garden of the Night, which he donated
㊯ߪ᫉∵ࣇᙔǸℱ཭᫈㇦ǹ卿؝㇝ᇖӲऀ㕜㊯㑌ǯӲऀ㕜ᛓԳ㪏⎑Ⴝս
to the Shanghai Medical School in 1933. The complex forms part of the
