A FINE RUBY-RED OVERLAY BUBBLE-SUFFUSED GLASS
'LOTUS POND' BOTTLE
1740-1800
The rich ruby-red overlay carved with a continuous lotus-pond scene,
one side depicting a goose gently gliding across a rippling pond with
lotus pads and flowers rising around it and with a dragonfly above,
the other side with a long-tailed bird, perhaps a swallow, alighting on
a bending bullrush and grasses amidst further lotus, a tall cylindrical
neck with a wide mouth opening and all supported on a flat oval foot
ring.
