東周 青銅龍紋甬鐘
A bronze yong bell of closely related entwined
dragon design is illustrated by Jenny F. So, Eastern
Zhou Ritual Bronzes from the Arthur M. Sackler
Collections, Volume III, New York, 1995, pp. 378-
381, no. 78, described as Eastern Zhou: late Spring
and Autumn period, early 5th century B.C.
Compare the closely related bronze yong bell with
entwined dragon design, from the Avery Brundage
Collection and now in the collection of the Asian Art
Museum of San Francisco, illustrated by Lefebvre
d'Argence, Ancient Chinese Bronzes in the Avery
Brundage Collection, Berkley, 1966, pp. 102-
103, Plate XLVI-A, noted by the author that "its
components rely almost entirely on prototypes that
can be traced back to the late Western Chou period
..., but its decor is similar to that of a typical Early
Warring States bell."
X-radiography of this lot is available upon request.
