A CELADON AND BROWN JADE ‘LION AND
CUB’ GROUP
17TH CENTURY

the recumbent lion with head turned to the left, detailed with coiling
eyebrows and mane, grasping a brocade ball between its front paws, its
arched back accentuated with a ridged spine extending to a finely incised
bushy tail, a cub frolicking on its back, the stone of mottled celadon colour
with russet patches cleverly worked to highlight the design
