QING DYNASTY, KANGXI PERIOD
standing foursquare with head turned backwards, the trunk curled upwards
between the tusks, the trappings and harness detailed with cloisonné
enamels and inlaid with hardstones, the saddle cloth brightly decorated in
enamels with magnolia blooms above waves on a turquoise ground, a cluster
of leafy lingzhi stems forming a support on the animal’s back
